i was at kari's blog and saw that today was the day to put your music player on shuffle and react to the first five songs. okely-dokely...
- "follow you down" by the gin blossoms: i have this song? i mean, i've always had a weakness for "allison road" but i had no idea i had this song
- "the sweetest sound" by gina forsyth: ah, good song, good memories. i love playing this song on the guitar... so sad
- "communist daughter" by neutral milk hotel: this song is weird. oddly catchy, but weird. (not like all the normal NMH songs) i mean, "semen stains the mountaintops"? i'll never look at the snow-covered rockies the same way...
- "pretty good year" by tori amos: the first song i fell in love with of of in the pink. not totally surprising since it's the first track, but man... i STILL love this song so much...
- "i'm no heroine" by ani difranco: feminist anthem extraordinaire, and my favorite line in there is a metaphor that is quite literal for me, "who says i like right angles?" i don't - i prefer curves and find it almost impossible to make a straight line...
- "how soon is now?" by the smiths: okay, i said five songs. but how could i not mention this song? this is such a fantastic song... depressing but elating at the same time... and the precursor to morrissey's "disappointed" which is another depressingly elating song...

the smiths are just cool, that's all there is to it. how about--my girlfriend's in a coma. I don't know why I like that song so much. or--rush and a push and the land is ours.
I've gotta check out those other bands....
there should be a band called: zmryke
i haven't listened to tori in ages. i know none of her new stuff. i need to get on that.
