are you serious?

so a job that is truly a means to an end should NOT make me stressed or interfere with my schoolwork.

and truly, the things i'm working on aren't actually crisis, all things considered. yes, they seem important here, but the fact that there are people fighting for their lives across an ocean - heck, even upstairs in this very hospital! - makes the fact that we don't have someone to speak at a meeting in 10 days seem very important.

whenever school starts to bug, i try to look on the bright side. "hey, it could be worse."

for example, i might have to give a speech, like, in front of an audience.

this will blatantly have no statistical data to support it, but it's something i've seen several times.

if in front of a group of people, ask them how many of them fear death.

then ask them how many of them fear speaking in public.

invariably, more will fear public speaking... proving that more people would rather be dead than speak in public.

sure you want to be a lawyer?

it's funny you mention that. we have to take a Legal Research and Writing class that has a speaking component too. the teacher asked us if we'd prefer to swim with sharks or give a speech. Over the half the class would rather swim with sharks.

as for me, i'm a freak. i prefer to speak in front of strangers, and better yet, in front of large groups. the more impersonal our relationship is, the better. i tend to get more nervous if i know all the people in the audience.

but don't let that fool you - i'm still no fan of public speaking. but if forced to do it, i'll do my best to make it as tolerable as possible (for me and the audience).
