Just recently, when my mom was knitting a neat something, she was using a different yarn than she'd used before---it was really pretty but really pesky, in that every few little bits, it would become a terrible mess. We sat one day for about an hour unraveling the whole rat's nest. She swore she'd never use that yarn again. That's my boring story about tangled yarn.
wow, that WAS a really boring story! :) heh. i'm only playing around, jay are. you know we're still best friends, so just be honest with yourself about that.
hf, i think the metaphor has to do with the futility of attempting to put all of life's problems ("entaglements", if you will) into a neat little ball. that's right, my mom was an english teacher, what's up now?
YOU NEED MORE KITTIES FOR THE YARN! KITTIES LOVE TANGLED YARN AND DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE CRYING WHILE THEY PLAY WITH IT...IT IS YARN AND THEY JUST LOVE IT FOR IT'S SHEER INCONTINUITY. GO FIND KITTIES GALORE!!!
grr. i didn't think i would be asked any more English questions once I got out of college. i knew i should have paid attention. i don't even know what niddy-noddying is but it sounds like fun.
niddy-noddying, which comes from the niddy-noddy device, which i do not own involves wrapping the yarn around your fingers and arms so it is in a lovely, tangle-free circle, and ready to put on the umbrella swift.
greek!
however i did a crapola job both doing it to the yarn in question and explaining the process.
