I've always kinda wondered what happenened if the world ended, like say, at 11:59 on Fat Tuesday. Seems a little risky somehow!

Hope you get more awake. Hope it's another beautiful day there. It sure is here. Come to Santa Cruz and go shopping by the sea. Have lunch looking out over the sun-dappled ocean...doesn't that sound good?

and I really need to dust. You should see my house.

But it's true what you say (though I feel like I weigh many stones).

It is Ash Wednesday. I had to remember that when I saw random people with black stuff on their foreheads.

The first time I'd seen the ashes was in 1999; it's not something I was terribly familiar with.

Hopefully, it'll be a while before I return to dust, yo. I'm digging this beating heart, active brain, flesh-and-blood stuff.

I remember the first Ash Wednesday at Loyola. It was the first time I'd ever seen ashes on foreheads. I was perplexed, but Feather, in her seemingly infinite Catholic wisdom, explained the whole thing to me.

That explains why I'm sneezing all the time -- I'm allergic to dust.
