this morning when my alarm went off, i thought, "holy cow. i'm going to be waking up at 5:30 am for the rest of my life."

but.. but.. you still have the weekends... right?
There's nothing wrong with rising at 5:30 - and you won't necessarily be doing it for the rest of your life, just for the next 30-someodd years.
awhec
i do have weekends, but this morning i've been up since 4:45. and i do love early mornings - i always have. it's just the getting up early to work for the man part for the next 30-someodd years that's sobering.
You won't actually be waking up at 5:30 a.m. for the rest of your life, or even for the next thirty years. Because pretty soon, as soon as the novelty of the job wears off, the alarm will go off at 5:30 and you'll decide that you don't really need to wash your hair, and you can forget about makeup because who is going to see you anyway, and breakfast is overrated, and pretty soon it will be 6:20 before you are out of bed each morning, and that sounds way more civilized than 5:30 a.m. Or is that just me?
