puppy boom

i was reading the story about the miners in west virginia. we all think it's sad and it is indeed a great loss, especially to their families and loved ones.

however, "puppy boom rises in katrina's ruins" caught my eye at the bottom of the article. (there's also a gratiuitous cute puppy picture. let's not think about the number that will be euthanized, though. because that makes me sad.)

there has been a massive spike in dog births from abandoned pets (chris, how about feral puppies for a band name?), and but not yet cats. my favorite sentence in the article?

"Workers have yet to see a spike in cat births, but there's no doubt about what dogs have been doing since the hurricane."

if anyone needs to know what the dogs have been doing, ask moocow. he may even have a pop-up book. if not, he can show you his bunny watch.

Done. I'm actually surprised that Feral Puppies was not already a band name.

yeah, Feral Puppies has that rock ring to it....

and it's nice to know that the dogs have found some entertainment during this hard and trying time.
:)

(speaking of cats who aren't performing at the same rate: my word verification just happens to be: zzymews)
