Mary's Danish tribute, part I of II

nothing's coming to mind right now, so i invite you to notice:

THESE ARE ALL THE SHAPES NEVADA COULD HAVE BEEN

The Comfort Inn
is my silver glitterbox
an oyster is my world
A lumpy armchair sings
my only quiet song
waiting for the astroturf to grow

These are all the shapes
Nevada could have been

Fear's a big garage sale
in the palm of my hand
Temptation wears a purple velvet hat
A vampire makes my favorite noise
when he wears his gardening glove

These are all the shapes
Nevada could have been.

Toaster's at its best
when it sings a Spanish song
waiting for the dodo bird to sing
The sharpening knife is a wishbone pull
her beadsift is a curse
My dad is a receipt for a full tank of gas
from a Tennessee town.
